Ayres Pencil Kit

Just completed making up this kit, the finished article looks great.
I only had one issue, as noted in the assembly instructions, found that the mechanism unscrewed when retracting the refill. I tried tightening it up slightly, then “Click” the mechanism was now damaged. I didn’t think I was applying particularly heavy pressure, but there you go, take care. I got a couple of spares from Jon and haven’t had the same problem with the new mechanism.
Also, though not noted in the description or assembly instructions, if you remove the plastic eraser holder, you will find a few spare refills in the tube, bonus 👍.

I have completed a number of Prokraft kits which I have used as presents, but this one I brought for myself. I am really pleased with the end result which works really well with the piece of yellow Berberis bush wood from my garden.
My only issue in making it was for once, the incomplete instructions which do not explain how the second brass tube should be fitted. I had to dismantle the kit to get it right and this could have been avoided by having a diagram or another one of the excellent videos from John.

Ordered the ares pencil keit to match and make up a pen/ pencil set. A brilliant as always kit from Jon. Good quality parts should sell well

Absolutely love this kit. I made it up in Ebony and added the music accent ring. I have a feeling this will be popular with my music loving customers
